Bar Manager - Logan Square

Position Overview

Mezcaleria Las Flores in Logan Square is in search of a talented and entrepreneurial-minded Bar Manager to lead the charge alongside our Operating Partners & Directors. He/she must have the ability to think independently and creatively as well as drive sales effectively using the resources available to him/her whilst always keeping the overall brand in mind. This person will champion the venue's fun and vibrant culture, bringing a "better every day" approach to building the team.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Operating Partners and Directors to effectively operate the business
  • Ensure all attend to the highest of standards for personnel performance and customer service - Manage, lead, & run shifts
  • Support the managing of hiring intellectually curious individuals that will contribute positively to every shift, day and initiative
  • Assist in developing, planning and carrying out marketing, advertising and promotional activities and campaigns
  • Work with the Director of Operations to adhere to budgets
  • Daily administrative work
  • Inventory Control & Ordering of necessary liquor, beer, & wine
  • Scheduling of FOH Staff
  • High-Volume bartender

What Your Background Looks Like

  • Must love this industry and love people
  • Must have at least 2+ years managing a high volume, high energy concept
  • Have knowledge of standard service points for food and beverage service
  • Comfortable managing a transition of concepts within one space involving restaurant diner service to high energy nightlife
  • Experience with inventory and ordering - Bevinco knowledge a plus
  • Must enjoy leading and coaching a team
  • Have strong knowledge of liquor, beer, & wine. Cocktail and agave spirits knowledge is a plus
  • Have experience working multiple positions in a restaurant
  • Must have the stamina to work 50 to 60 hours per week
  • Have the confidence to present ideas and to stand behind them
  • Have humility to have ideas overruled and to endorse others' ideas or directions. Humility to learn every day from every individual
  • Bring a challenge (problem/issue) with a corresponding solution
  • Experience with planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service & satisfaction, quality of food & beverage, cleanliness and sanitation
  • Have a "roll up your sleeves" & "I'll do whatever it takes to get it done" attitude
